See Kruger National Park – Lion Sands Game Reserve
On a recommendation from Bench Africa of Sydney. I ventured to a wonderful Game Park called
Lion Sands Game reserve in Kruger National Park their ethics allowed the option to support the
local village however we wanted, and that appealed to me too.
So enjoying the game early morning and late in the afternoon for a luxurious 5 days was a “pinch
me” this is the real deal moment being up close and personal with the big 5.
On my departure I chose to add a few South African rand to my account to help the local village
and promised to go back with other options to help out. This I did numerous times.
I kindly asked Qantas management for extra luggage and off I went, the last visit I had 3 of my
work colleagues join me. We arrived at Johannesburg airport with our 400kg of luggage. An
overnight stay at a local hotel gave us enough rest for the 12hour drive with all the luggage and
our driver out to Kruger National Park. Tears came and went as spotting an elephant or giraffe
was too just too much. Once or twice we stopped and I had to let them know not to get out of the
vehicle as we are with real wild animals that may look like they haven’t seen us. but they have.
Settling into luxury of the Game reserve with the game drives and dining under the stars
overlooking the Sabi river was a stark contrast to the village “a taste of reality of village life”.
After a day or two we enjoyed the long 3 hour drive out from the Game Park to the Huntington
village to help distribute the aid.
Watching the children enjoy bubbles for the first time along with our supplies of clothes, pencils
and books as requested was as exciting as the many times before.
I stopped due to aid was in abundance coming from many other countries and my annual leave
needed to be more rest and relaxation.
So if you are looking for a Game reserve Lion Sands it is. This one is run by the More family they
